Gonçalo M. Tavares is a Portugeuse novelist, playwright, poet and critic. His works include Jerusalem (Dalkey Archive, 2009), Learning to Pray in the Age of Technique (Dalkey Archive, 2011) and Joseph Walser’s Machine (Dalkey Archive, 2012). He is the recipient of the José Saramago Prize, the LER/Millenium Prize and the Oceanos Prize.

Daniel Hahn is the author of The Tower Menagerie (Simon & Schuster, 2004) and the translator of works by novelists Philippe Claudel, José Saramago, Gonçalo M. Tavares and others. His translations include six novels by José Eduardo Agualusa, with whom he won the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize and the International Dublin Literary Award. He is on the board of English PEN.
